80's X-men!

I've been reading old x-men comics and i finally got to the late 80s when things get more fun and interesting. I’m digging the current era where Storm lost her powers but is still a supreme badass. Also she has cool cat eyes. Here's some Dazzler, Storm, and (original) Psylocke.

FX Animation!

effects animation is super fascinating to me so when i get a chance to do some animation work at home it tends to be toward the top of my list of things to play with. here's some of my latest practice:

random and sporadic life drawing

that is all.

catching up

hey blogger, how's it going? i feel like we don't talk anymore. i'll admit, i've been having an affair with tumblr, but i check in on you every now and then.

let's catch up, shall we? here's all the stuff i've done in the past few months

we cool?

Sherlock!

I watched the Sherlock series a little while back and really liked it and finally got my husband to sit down for two hours and watch the first episode. I did some doodles while we watched it.

top right looks like Beethoven..

Celia, Moray Princess

I wouldn’t be surprised if no one knows who this is.

In 1992 Disney released a mini series of Little Mermaid comics, the first two of which was a great story about Ariel crossing a chasm in the ocean and coming upon the Moray people. This is their princess, Celia. Celia’s a biiiiiiiiiitch and I love her so much in the same way that I love Azula from Avatar. I still have these comics but they’re falling apart because I read the absolute crap out of them as a kid.

you can see some scans from the comics here

Random Vesta and Juno sketches. They make for good subject matter when I'm bored/art blocked.

Got the new Sketchbook Copic app and did a little dooooodle~

Maybe if i get good at fake markers i'll break out my real ones..

Cleaning House

THIS

..is four years of my life.

I cleaned out the closet today and this had been in the back of my mind for a while. I'm never going to go back to these projects. I'm never going to scan, rework, or need any of these drawings. I'm bad about amassing "STUFF" and being emotionally attached to too many inanimate things. 2D animation takes up a lot of space. All of this paper is going into the recycling bin.

I am keeping my senior film (for now; it takes up less space than I thought) and a few choice bits and pieces from various projects (like my very first bouncing ball assignment).

Feels like progress.

La Dolce Vida sketches

I watched La Dolce Vida for the first time yesterday and kept pausing it because I wanted to draw from it (a very effective way to make an almost 3 hour movie even longer)

Self Portrait with Cat Hat

Paul Revere "The Truth"

Here’s a little short I helped animate on. I worked on a couple shots (the initial 1-4 lanterns and the nukes) over the course of ..jeez..a year? Well it finally got put out into internet land! Happy Fourth of July, my fellow Americans.

Gumball!

If you haven't seen The Amazing World of Gumball, get off the internet right now and go watch it...unless you need the internet to watch it. in which case it's ok.

I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH.

characters colored in photoshop. background photo is from a recent trip to Maui.

red panda love

i looove red pandas. i want to have a red panda farm where they can frolic and be adorable.

i see lots of photos of red pandas sticking their tongues out. surely they would like popsicles, right? i really like how these came out. i've been wanting to animate red pandas for a long time now. maybe i can do something with this little guy..

Jewel doodle

she gets mad at me for neglecting her and forces her way into my sketchbook.

Fluttershy (more ponies)

ponies ponies ponies

I put up a few work in progress shots HERE

My Little Pony Madness

I got bit by the pony bug.

Not being in a market with those neat plastic toys, I fell into the same thing that always happens when I don't like the toys for something...I make my own.

I did Applejack first because, honestly, she's my least favorite of the main cast and I wanted to work the kinks out with her. Glad I did because I learned a lot from working on her. Her face isn't perfect, but that was part of the learning process.

Quite pleased with how Pinkie came out, especially her hair. I learned to keep the tail detachable with the help of some wire which  makes painting sooo much easier.

They're both around 2.5" tall, made with super sculpey and painting with acrylic craft paint.

This is probably not the end of this...

Aerialist Life Drawing!

Last night Dr. Sketchy's had a life drawing session with a bunch of aerialists and hoops hanging from the ceiling. Very exciting! Also another chance to use my new pen and pencils! Double exciting!

1 minute warmups

10 minute (unless they couldn't hold it that long) poses

yay fanart!

there's always something to draw with fanart..

i got some new drawing stuff i wanted to break in and, when in doubt, there's always sailor moon.

I got several different colors of Pentel color eno 0.7 lead which I love. I really like drawing with colored lead, but those Staedler drafting pencil leads are so thick, it's nearly impossible to get any detail in. The Pentel hi-polymer soft eraser also does a kickass job of erasing those colored pencil lines which can often be stubborn. I also got a 0.4 Pilot Hi-Tec-C black pen which I adore. It feels so awesome to draw with and I love the loose line quality. Happiness is new art supplies!

vesta doodle

hi blog. still here, just not a lot of time for arts right now.

evening doodle of my kitty, Vesta.
